SO YOU WANT TO BE SPONSORED?
After being involved in ABA BMX for about eight years or so, we have come to find there really is no good sponsorship programs available for the 'regular' rider. True, there are some businesses that we've heard of giving money to local riders, but they are few. Yes, there's Sponsor House and other avenues, but for the most part these options generally offer only a discount, at best, when you buy from them.
Before we give you the details, let’s first talk about what sponsorship is. For those riders who think sponsorship is all about 'What can the sponsor do for me?'... you might want to think again.
Reality is - Sponsorship is a cooperation between a rider and a company. A sponsor will support you, but you shouldn’t think of it as a 'free ride'. In order to keep sponsorship, you need to ask yourself, 'What am I doing in return for my sponsor?' Are you winning races? That’s good, but it’s only one part of the complete picture. The big return for any sponsor is when the riders promote the sponsor's products in such a good manner that it sends more customers to the product. Period.
Winning races is fine, but since the beginning of time, there have been riders who win everything in sight and do nothing at all to help increase sales for their sponsor. Sometimes a 'win-all-the-time' rider with a bad attitude or reputation can even discourage customers from using the sponsor's products he’s promoting.
The bottom line is if your sponsor isn`t making money selling their products, they will not be able to fund sponsorship for very long. This is where many sponsored riders forget why they are being sponsored and why you see so many BMX sponsors come and go in the sport of BMX.
We're sure you've all wondered about certain factory pros who never seem to win a main event, yet they have the most full-on Factory sponsorship available. These guys are promoters. Their sponsorship is not based purely on results, but on the way they promote and represent their sponsor. More often than not, many sponsors will choose the friendly 'good promoter' rider who might not win all the time, over a bad attitude rider who poorly represents his sponsor yet wins every race he enters. When YOU, can combine all three qualities into one -- being a highly competitive great promoter who is an awesome representative of your sponsor and your sponsor's products, then YOU, are exactly who WaryWeb is looking for.
So we'll just say no one is really going to just give you dollars to race. At WaryWeb we obviously just can't give dollars out either, but we have came up with an idea we feel is a potential 'Win Win' solution. Being forthright here, the purpose a company sponsors anything is for advertising with a potential for a return on the investment. It is no different for us. We offer our program as a way to garner some racing cash for you, while at the same time increase our business.
WaryWeb is a provider of web site hosting and web design solutions targeted at small to medium businesses and organizations. We pride ourselves especially on our design services and offer low start-up fees with very competitive pricing. Pricing that is in the range of even the smallest of organizations. We believe that for too long professionally designed web sites have been just too costly and we offer a great solution for all businesses and organizations, no matter how small.
With all that said, here's how our sponsorship program will work:
We want our sponsored riders, and parents - as this benefits them, to guide interested persons, businesses and organizations to our services. When any of those referrals become WaryWeb customers, you earn Sponsorship Dollars for as long as you maintain a sponsorship deal with us. As said, this is a 'Win Win' deal.
The requirements are simple: Fill out and sign an application - if under 18 years old a parent must also sign. You must agree to our terms and conditions and follow the program's guidelines. WaryWeb.com stickers, provided, are to be placed on your race bikes, plates and helmet. WaryWeb.com must be listed as a sponsor on all your race entries forms for the moto sheets and you may not be sponsored by any other web hosting or web design companies. We would like for you to compete in your home state's 'State Championship Series' and also in at least one National weekend, but we won't require you to do so. We expect, and require, good sportsmanship. Yes, even above racing ability and results.
There are three different levels of sponsorship:
Level 1
This first level is the beginning point for everyone and is available for ABA Intermediate riders and above. At this level you are entitled to all the benefits we are able to put together. This currently includes a 15% discount on all products purchased from our partner, Deluxx Bikes and we have other deals in the works. We also expect to be able to provide some drinks, at least, during National events. You will also be included in the Racer Profiles on our website.
You can stay at this level for as long as you'd like and enjoy all of the benefits without ever doing more.
Level 2
When one of your referrals becomes a WaryWeb customer, you will receive sponsorship $s in your account. Just one referred customer is all it takes to make it to Level 2. If the customer signs up for a Hosting account, you will receive $15 credited to your WaryWeb account when we receive payment. This amount for a Hosting account is a one time bonus and only one is available per sponsored rider. After the bonus, and subsequent Hosting account only referrals, you will receive 10% of the total amount each of your referred customers pays per month, credited to your WaryWeb sponsorship account.
When any of your referrals signs up for a Web Design account, you will receive $30 into your account upon receipt of the setup fee from your referral. This is a one time payment for each referral that becomes a WaryWeb Design customer and there is no limit to how many you can receive.
Once your WaryWeb sponsorship account reaches $30, you can request sponsorship dollars and we'll send you a check for the total amount and you'll start building to the $30 all over again. We will offer other options too such as credits toward hosting, Deluxx Bikes credits, or even race entry fee credits. It'll be your choice.
Remember, the commissions for Hosting accounts are perpetual, they continue as long as your referral remains a customer and you remain a WaryWeb sponsored rider. Along with the commissions, another benefit will be a free account for your own web site on our BZap.net domain. This is where you can have your own web address as yourname.BZap.net and you can put anything you'd like there - within our guidelines of course.
Level 3
Only the top athletes and representatives of WaryWeb will be selected to be in this level, and criteria isn't even developed yet. Rest assured,if you make it to this level, you'll be well taken care of'. As we say - Relax, it's WaryWeb!
The Loose Ends
To help you develop referrals, we'll provide you with business cards which you can handout adding your name. When your referral signs up with us, they simply need to identify you by name in the space provided. For those that have their own web sites, My Space, etc., we can provide you with WaryWeb banner ads that will been coded with your own info to identify you as the referrer if that customer signs up within 90 days.
All in all we feel we have developed a pretty good, and potentially lucrative, sponsorship program for ABA BMX racers, and yes, a rider's, or parent's, business that signs up counts just the same too.
Just one more thing, as a matter of precaution, we reserve the right to accept or reject any and all applications.
